Thatcher

There's a lot of politics in the papers at the moment, but I read something today that tickled me. It said ; Look up in one of Downing Street's state rooms, above the damask curtains, above a grand doorway. There, hard to spot amid elaborate moulding, is a tiny gilded figure: a man, up a ladder, a bale of straw on his back. Just before she left office, Mrs Thatcher had him installed: so there would always be a thatcher in Downing Street. Sweet. (Regardless of your view of the woman herself)
