Synchrocyclotron

Today the HST2016 started in earnest. Most of us got up early to get our official CERN badge before breakfast. In the morning we learned about the history and background of CERN. During lunch we could feast on a Higgs Boson pizza as it was exactly 4 years ago that the existence of the particle was announced.
The afternoon started with an introduction to particle physics (yaiks, definitely need to brush up my knowledge). After that we visited the first particle accelerator of CERN: the synchrocyclotron. I think most of us are excited like little kids - nice.
In the evening some of us took the tram into Geneva to explore the city itself. The weather is so lovely and we strolled along the water and explored the old tram.
