Plane Shavings. Leitz Summicron 50mm DR

Who would have thought?  With a fair amount of furniture reshuffling in our apartment, and a great deal of attitude adjustment on my part, my Editor has encouraged a little woodshop to materialize.  Nothing fancy; only hand tools and the skills to drive them.  The first project?  Providing an additional shelf for an existing bookcase.  Get suitable lumber, match dimensions only with a square and planes, cut a matching molding by hand.  Worked up a sweat and had real fun!

Here are a couple of shavings which came curling off my  Record rabbet plane, not used for this purpose in nearly thirty years.  This is the way craftsmen and joiners created slots and dados in the days before routers.
