"School's out. My friends aren't around. And it's really hot. What to do...."

First day of a week-long heat wave (90s F/30s C) with very high humidity. The kind of weather that feels like you're stepping in a bathroom where someone just took a hot shower. The air is thick, windows get misty and AC units rumble on at every house. Your body goes into shock moving from AC environments to the outdoors. Every year, at about this time, I tell myself I need to get out of DC for the summer. Next year, perhaps.
