A Day Worth Recording

The incinerator's seen better days.  Know how it feels.  Started on the replacement internal rainwater downpipe work today, a job that's been a thorn in the side for far too long mainly because no one contractor wanted to take responsibility for it, there is no 'good' solution (beyond redesigning half the house) and it's going to be a hack whichever way we do it.

Started with the plumber and I taking out old pipework from around the, um, interesting plumbing, wiring and woodwork, then spending the rest of the day filling some of the resultant holes in the ceiling and walls.

I suspect you're not supposed to be able to just lift out floor joists.

To whoever previously just nailed multiple boards over the whole lot and to hell with the leaks and damp - I'm beginning to understand where you were coming from.

On the other hand, grateful guests left us some wine and brandy with a thank-you note.  Timely. I'd say.
