Stratford Races Blipmeet (Sunday July 10th 2016)

This afternoon I was at Stratford-upon-Avon, at a Blipmeet set up by LooseCanon and including Technophobe, HildasRose,  Rob,  Coffeepotter,  Nikonabike and Margaret. He knew of a vantage point from a cycle path that afforded great views of the course. It's a new challenge for me, and most of my shots were rubbish despite using shutter speeds up to 1/2000th (see 1st Extra) but it was great fun and a glorious afternoon.

Edit: Wanting to blip on the day, I made a snap decision to go with strong colours and the frozen motion of the horses over atmosphere. However on reflection, and taking into account a couple of comments, I have today changed the image, swapping with what was the first Extra. The former blip is now the second Extra.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Cryin' Shames - Please Stay (1966)
Liela Moss from the Duke Spirit played this weirdly atmospheric single as I drove back from Stratford. She couldn't remember what compilation she had discovered it on, but I remember I had it on a double-album called Hard Up Heroes, commemorating those sixties band who earned peanuts slogging up and down the M1 in battered transit vans to play in small, badly run venues. It was written by Burt Bacharach and Bob Hilliard and was first recorded by the Drifters, but this is the better known version. It was Joe Meek's last chart hit production before his suicide the following year.
