Les Pierres Droites

Another beautiful day in Bretagne for the last day of our holiday and it was Mr DawnC's turn for a treat. He chose the Resistance Museum in Malestroit, which we all found very interesting - even me! The food was good there too. We then went into Malestroit itself and had a wander around the Medieval Quarter and a bit more of the Nantes-Brest canal before heading off to see a bonus Neolithic site: the Pierres Droites menhirs in Monteneuf. This was a real treat (possibly mostly for me) as the standing stones are in a forest and the whole place has a very mystical feel to it. On the way back to the gite we stopped off at the Prieure Saint Etienne in Guer, which dates to the 15th century.

Things I like about Brittany:
the crepes
the cidre
the weather!
the roads
the politeness
the free parking
the archaeology
artisan patisseries
the flowers everywhere (especially the hydrangeas)
the architecture
