Jam for January

We don't eat a lot of jam, but in the dark winter months, a spoonful of raspberry jam on porridge brings an instant taste of summer. Close your eyes and you can be transported back to the long days of July when two punnets of fruit picked after breakfast makes five jars of beautiful ruby red jam by lunchtime.

Just as the taste of it takes me back to summer, so the picking of the raspberries makes me think of winter, and how the seasons turn.

I had this song in my head - I love hearing it sung by local harpist Wendy Stewart, but couldn't find a video of her playing it. I do like this version, though.
