My Last Morning on the Battlefield....

today I am highlighting the commemoration and tribute paid to the war veterans for both sides.  The large dome is in tribute to all of the dead,  Meade is on one side, Lincoln is on the other.  This tribute is near the National Cemetery where Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address.  To the side you see an infantry man running towards the battle.
The calvary leader is on the top of the high ground.  He is looking down to the low ground where the Johnny Rebs were mass for a huge assault.  Since the north had the hide ground and the they had set up their line from North to South along the gentle valley, they were able to look down on the opposing army , coming up the hills, crawling through the fence, dark around and using barn and houses for shelter.
In the end the North help their lines and turned the southern army back to the west, where they had come from.  Lee was successfully able to retreat down the Blue Ridge Valley and recover, to fight another day.
In the end, the Southern calvary covered the rear as Lee retreated.
