Visual artist

It has been said that 10% of people remember what they hear, 20% remember what they read, but 80% remember what they see.

I don't know whether that is true or accurate, although it has a ring of truth about it. This is the third time in the last year or so that I have seen visual artists (as they seem to be called) being used by public agencies to sell and reinforce messages.

Salford City Council has seen it's revenue budget reduce by 50% since 2010 as a result of government cuts to grant (local authorities get most of their funding from central government). And there are more cuts coming.

So the Council has to completely transform how it does things. Doing things differently, doing less of some things, maybe stopping doing some things. The artist is helping to set out some key messages as part of this transformation process.

What is true is that lots of people want to do the best for Salford - including me.
