Bosham with Charlie Waite

Today with a group of fellow photographers I attended a workshop with legendary landscape photographer Charlie Waite.

After an introductory talk at a local gallery we set off to explore the lovely coastal village of Bosham. Charlie spent time with each of us explain how to set up and compose images by taking time to consider everything in the image by not rushing. As he said haste and pressure are barriers to creativity.

As the flat light was not too conducive for landscape photography we concentrated on details and abstracts with tuition  on composition for more traditional landscape shots. In this image he suggested that by stepping a little to the right the mast of the right hand boat would fall between the two houses in the background and the jib of the blue boat in the centre would not cut through the white window of the house behind with the slope of the jib echoing the roofline. Both of which I would not have noticed, guess I'm going to have to use the tripod more. All in all an inspiring and enjoyable day.

After dinner towards dusk I returned to take some more pics. with the tide now out and a little sunlight reflecting of the stream, shown in the extras.
