Not A Whole Lot Of Rose
Nothing like Rosie.
My day was enlivened by the fact that my colleague announced that he was taking the afternoon off 10 minutes before he skedaddled for a long weekend.
I laughed and said "I expect the first phone call will be around 7 tomorrow morning and it'll be about something I know nothing about. Hahaha".
I should know better than to tempt Fate.
I didn't have to wait 30 minutes after he left. I got telephoned about an "apparently" broken JSON converter.
I know that JSON is a JavaScript Object Notation and that it's used in a lot of places to replace XML (Xtensible Markup Language). So I'd heard about it but I've certainly never used it or supported it.
My colleague, however, has written scads of stuff to support and implement it. Not that I know any of it.
4 hours later I know a bit more and from what I've seen on the database, the guy who phoned had managed to solve his problem without telling me that he had.
After spending 4 hours jumping between manuals written in Englisch and instructions written in German and programmes that are written in Rexx (but without comments), I am goosed.
