Liars & Triers

Nothing at all to do with the city of Trier.

G put a flat up for sale on the Internet.  She put a big banner on it "No Estate Agents" (or realtors or Makler).  Nevertheless a stream of Estate Agents have phoned and e-mailed to explain that that provision doesn't apply to them and here's the shitty deal they're prepared to offer....

Another thing we've discovered since the posting of the advert is how many unfortunate millionaire doctors there are in Syria and Afghanistan.  Apparently these cash-rich, time-poor, ever-so-trustworthy people just need a few details and a bit of upfront cash from us (purely for Admin costs) and we can basically retire on the millions they'll give us. 

And I've been getting a string of e-mails from otto.de saying things like "Thanks for signing up to our phone and e-mails services, we'll start bombarding you with shit straight away". 

Sent them a rather rude e-mail in reply.

That is something I miss.  In English I was really good at being sarcastic.  I'm not anywhere near as good in German. 

And before anyone says "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit", I'd really like to know why.  Oscar never really explained why and that's always bugged me.  And in Schottland , sarcasm is practically an automatic  defence mechanism.
