Mein München: D wie Dachauer Straße

My Munich: D stands for Dachauer Straße

The letter D of my alphabetical Munich street series goes to Dachauer Straße. During the Nazi regime, the comedian Karl Valentin called it "probably Munich's longest street, because a lot of people are leaving the city on this street, but only few are coming back". This was an allusion to the place, where Dachauer Straße leads: the infamous city of Dachau, where one of the first Nazi concentration camps was located. In reality, Dachauer Straße is not Munich's longest street, but in the top 3 - therefore I'm too lazy to list all the places and sights the street passes along its long way across the city.

Obviously, Dachauer Straße is named after the city of Dachau, which is one of Munich's northern neighbours.

The photo shows Löwenbräukeller beer hall at Dachauer Straße and Stiglmaierplatz.

Selective colouring as usual for this series.
