Tynwald Hill

On Manx National Day the 5th of July the Manx government go out to Tynwald Hill in St Johns to read a summary of laws passed the last year. The artificial hill is made up of four circular steps and is believed to have been an ancient meeting place for a midsummer assembly, with a cross representing the celtic sun god, Lugh. There is some talk of it being used as early as the late first millennium.

We were enroute this morning to a meeting with Manx government officials in Douglas, so as we passed I noticed this guy strimming the grass. The half strimmed part (left) looked neat and crisp, whilst the other side (right) looked more fuzzy.

The same fuzziness was affecting my head and sinuses this morning from a night of perhaps one too many.
