Graffitoid

We drove to New York today. The plan was to take the Staten Island ferry to Manhattan but, for some reason, Google took us to the New Jersey Port Authority (via a road accident). We retraced our steps, found some parking and caught the 1.30 ferry.

I got us a tourist bus ticket, open topped, which we rode up the east side to Rockerfeller Plaza in the baking sun. Then we walked up 6th Avenue towards Central Park, stopping at the Star deli to pick up some lunch. In the park the humidity gave way to heavy rain, but we managed to avoid a total soaking with some cunning umbrella activity.

We ambled down to Times Square and were surprised at its lack of square-ness. There was a heap of construction work going on too, reminiscent of Edinburgh trams. We jumped back on the bus to avoid the crammed sidewalks and went down to Greenwich Village.

I wanted to check out Bowery, but was underwhelmed, and we ended up walking down Broadway back to the ferry terminal. Full of fast food we chugged back to Staten with Manhattan glistening behind us.

The drive back was always going to be grim. We stopped for donuts (and coffee) on the way, but otherwise hightailed it as fast as we could back to Berwyn. And sleep.
