Salvage from the Wreckage

By NickMogToo

Hey Charlie, Hey Chuck!

Got up. Admired the view. Went for a hot 10k that took in the deserted Hovercraft port. Sandwiches on the balcony with C. Wandered around Ramsgate, tea and cake. Long Skype with H in Paris.

Then back to the Ramsgate Music Hall for part two of the Fortuna Pop birthday celebrations. First up was the wonderful Bearsuit - reformed to play two gigs (their final appearance will be at IndieTracks (wonder if I could make it there?)). Most enjoyable gig ever. They played all the "hits" (well, quite a lot of B-sides and obscurities) including HCHC which has long been on my list of stuff to be played at my funeral. There was shouty stuff, trumpets, thrashing guitar, a flute, pink capes, one of those little keyboards things that you blow into, the 6 band members having to put their hands on their heads to indicate that they were ready for the next song...
I was grinning like a loon throughout.

They generate such a sense of anarchic joy...

Then after a break for another Gadds pale ale, it was time for the Wave Pictures. Man, that David Tattersall sure can play guitar. Great songs too.

C, having wisely missed out on the shoutiness and loudness turned up in time for a Prosecco and Darren Hayman. He pointed out that the bill was in the wrong order - the Wave Pictures were the top act. His stuff is good but it was a slight anticlimax.

Left clutching a carrier bag with some Allo Darlin LPs bought from Mr Fortuna Pop.

Good times...
