Productivity

We spent around 7 hours on the allotment today, 21 work hours in total.  There were plenty jobs to be done.  Both beds needed weeding and there were the final squares of seed sowing to do.

Dad set about assembling some frameworks to turn in to fruit cages whilst Mum and I went to collect an order of compost from Wickes.  4 bags of compost and 3 bags of manure were emptied in to bed 2 which Mum and Dad dug in between them (removing all the couch grass roots as they went).  There was a trip to the tip with a lot of weeds and bags of soil dug out to create an ericaceous bed for lingonberries, cranberries and blueberries and netting needed stapled to the fruit cages.  Rhubarb, carrots, leeks and brassicas were planted.  Trenches dug for tatties.  We even had time to get the stakes in and netting on for the brassicas and the raspberries stakes in.  The tall raspberry stakes will confuse other allotmenteers when the tatties start coming up between them!
