There might be a heatwave in the south but certainly not here with cool strong winds and leaden skies nor was it a day for the beach or trying to go birdwatching at the Musselburgh Lagoons.  Several bird spotters were peering through their binoculars at the birds in the sea but I could pick out only hundreds of eiders.  Some of the fishermen (extra) were having luck and one gave us a mackerel that made a very tasty meal this evening.
