Back Blipped 01.08.12

Second last day of our holiday and we decided to have a tour along the coast from Douranenez stopping at various places, the most noteworthy being Pointe du Van and Pointe du Raz.

At Pointe du Van there was a little coffee shop situated in a space carved out of the rocky landscape and we sat in the sunshine there for a while, enjoying a café crème and a hot caramel crepe and couldn't help but ponder that in a similar UK beauty spot the equivalent would be a burger van with the lovely fresh sea air filled with the stench of fried onions and greasy chips.

Went for a short wander along the costal path but the heat and the unsuitability of the path for Alan's wheelchair (and me!) made us turn back. Of course we had to have some ice cream to cool us down. Pistachio and mint choc chip for me and vanilla and chocolate for David. Alan doesn't like ice cream! Strange child!

Headed to Pointe du Raz next and Alan and David got out for a wander but it was too hot for me so I opted to sit and read my book. Absolute Bliss :))

Had hoped to be blipping a shot of the stunning coastline but there was a heat haze which meant the cliffs and coastline weren't particularly clear (plus we didn't actually get that close!) so settled for this shot of the prettiest church I've ever seen. I can just imagine a young bride festooned in delicate Breton lace standing in the church doorway with her handsome new husband, their whole lives ahead of them....

Captured the shot on the way back to the holiday house when for some reason known only to it, the sat nav took us home via all the back roads instead of the main road and I'm really glad it did or we would have missed lots of beautiful scenery.

Can't believe tomorrow is our last day...
