Prom 1 panorama

The evening began with an orchestral rendition of the Marseilles in remembrance of the poor souls lost and injured in the recent atrocity in Nice. Then Prom 1 lifted off with a rip-roaring 'heavy-metal classical' start to the Proms starting with Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet and ending with Prokofiev's blockbuster Alexander Nevsky with double sized chorus. But in true metal style, in the middle we had the beautiful and brooding Elgar cello concerto played by the Argentinian virtuoso, Sol Gabetta. A great start to the 2016 season.

The interesting thing about the new panorama feature in the iPhone is that you don't have to keep your scan straight. This means that you can adapt the view to show the important bits you want. The downside is that you can get a few jagged artefacts as you turn the camera and an 'almost' vertical shot like this has to be shown sideways on blip.
