Treasured spot

With soaring temperatures of the past few days, the beach appears tempting, and it appears that I am far from alone in that thought.
With the thermometer climbing into the 90s Fahrenheit who can blame them. Initially my thought was simply to amble round this lake and sticking to woodland areas where I could to gain benefit from the shade.
Although I shouldn’t be complaining that the good weather of today and all this week  has finally arrived. And it seemed evident that the scores of children with their parents enjoying the open air were equally making  the most of blazing sunshine.
This beach is man-made at a beauty spot with a 60-acre lake at its focal point but providing woodland walks, picnic areas, water birdlife aplenty, and opportunity for fishing. . . with  a narrow gauge railway skirting the lake.  The water is regarded sufficiently safe for swimming, and there has been talk of it being used for boating

But originally built as a feeder reservoir to the Grand Union Canal not far away, it is now a treasured recreational spot.
