Male Mono Bouquetins....

..... Young ones, practising for adulthood when they will fight long and hard for dominance of the female herd. The males and females with their babies (cabri) live in separate groups until the rut in December and January. The clash of horns can be herd from a great distance but they rarely cause any real damage. The weaker animal will simply walk off eventually.

More photos of today's male herd near Les Diablerets hut on Flickr. https://www.flickr.com/photos/hilarysview/ It is the first time I have been there in the summer and I was delighted to see these majestic beasts and they suited the mono Monday challenge, "link". Many thanks to Skeena for hosting the challenge.
