EN ROUTE

My contribution for the Mono Monday challenge with the theme: link.
Huge thanks to skeena for hosting.
You see me taking a photo through the opposite window of the train, and you can see Piet Hein too. We are linked together!
Our journey to Germany did not start early in the morning, we left The Hague after 12 o'clock and reached our home at 7 pm.
We could reach all the connections in time.
Two funny things happened on our trip. The train from Amsterdam to Berlin had a stop, as always, in Bad Bentheim and all the people had to leave the train there and go into another train, where we found our reserved places. From Bad Bentheim we only stayed in this train till Rheine. Piet Hein had been dozing away and sat reading.
The train went slower and slower and when it stopped I looked out of the window and saw we were already in Rheine. As swift we could we jumped out of it. Really funny!
When we came in our next train our reserved places were occupied by an elder couple. Now we are ourselves an elder couple and we asked the couple to move to other seats. Obviously the train was complete full.
After some time, the other couple stood near us in the gangway, Piet Hein stood up and asked a young man to give his place to the elder woman. This young man appeared to be Belgian, and after some hesitation he obliged, and I showed another seat vacant to the man.
Now they were both seated. The belgian young man sat on the ground next to us.
We had promised the elder couple that when we would leave in Altenbeken they could take our places. Which they did when we left.
From Altenbeken still one train to catch and then we reached our destination.
When we were walking the steps to our street, from the Jugendherberge a refugee came towards us, shaked our hands and introduced himself. Hamid Ali was his name. He offered to carry my rolling suitcase, took it and started to walk. He obviously was very strong, because he seemed not to mind that it was very heavy.
A pity he did not speak german. Just a little bit, as he said.
Now we are home, have rest already a bit.
I will have an early go to bed and will catch up tomorrow.

I nearly forgot my haiku:

Rocking in the train
Hour after hour till the end
Safely home at last

And the proverb:

Safe bind, safe find.
