Liverpool Biennial (3)

I have featured one of Lawrence Abu Hamdan's works before. He is a forensic audio analyst as well as an artist. He was asked to analyse the sounds of gunfire that led to the deaths of two young Palestinians, Nadeem Nawara and Mohammed Dahar, in the West Bank. The Israeli army had claimed that they were killed by rubber bullets, but Abu Hamdan's analysis showed that they were in fact shot by real bullets. His rather chilling video installation imagines a tribunal into the deaths. It is entitled "Rubber Coated Steel" and is on show in the Oratory beside the Anglican cathedral. This is usually closed to the public, and makes a fitting venue.
