Mallard Duck family at Flatford Mill, Essex

"Constable Country"

This stretch of water was the location (albeit viewed from a different angle) for John Constable's "The Hay Wain", painted in 1821.  In the background is Flatford Mill, owned by John's father.

This is a delightful place, and was the inspiration for many of Constable's better known paintings.
