Utah Beach

We had to call in to the final beach of the Normandy invasion on our journey west today to keep Wally happy. We ran out time the other night and he didn't travel 20,000km to only visit 4 of the 5 historic sites.
It seems it is now more popular for training trotting horses and hosting cycle races. There was still evidence in the form of bicycles hung on buildings that it was the starting point of this year's Tour de France.

We then had a long 6 hour drive to Quimper in western Brittany.

Here we met acquaintances Herve, Bernadette and their 12 year old nephew Tristan. We have only met them briefly before when they were visiting their son Gaëtan who you may remember has done some building work for us and cooked us Fench food.
They appreciated us showing them the Blue Mountains and are anxious to return the hospitality.
We had dinner with them this evening and tomorrow they are showing us some of the sights.
They speak even less English than I do French so it a bit challenging but amazing how you can communicate when you have to.
