Le Picnic

Today Bernadette and young Tristan escorted us on a tour half way around Brittany.
North to Douarnenez where we found, on the way, the grave of the famous doctor, Rene Laennec, who invented the stethoscope. James, being a doctor himself and very interested in medical history, got quite excited by this.

We then proceeded west to the coast and the most westerly point of France. Lots of simple fishing villages and lovely scenery.
We had a picnic lunch there which, as you can see from the blip, was quite satisfying.

On the way home we stopped at another port to see the fishing boats retuning at 5pm to unload their catch.

Meanwhile Hervé had stayed home and as if that picnic wasn't enough he had organised a banquet of fois gras, more seafood than even I can eat and a tradition Breton dessert the name of which escapes me.

These are people we met briefly once in Australia, showed them around the farm and turned on a BBQ......
