Pleasure dome

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round;
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.

The first stanza of 'Kubla Khan' by Samuel Coleridge Taylor, (1772-1834). One of my Dad's favourite poets and poems, appropriate on this day that would have been his 87th birthday, as I sit here this evening with my bro and raise our glasses to our dearest Dad, having just a little earlier, come across the poem in one of Dad's poetry books (dated 1948).

Jason Bourne's latest escapade filled my life for a couple of hours this afternoon at the Odeon cinema, a real pleasure dome that stinks of over priced popcorn.  The film redefined the term 'action movie' - I was exhausted just watching Mat Damon gad about, but enjoyed looking all the same......  Today's photograph of the River Chelmer was taken walking back to the car park afterwards (It's the next bridge along from Tuesday's photo) and given a touch of nostalgia to suit my mood.
