Old Faithful

Yesterday our daughter was called into work unexpectedly, to cover a night shift. She left our granddaughter to stay overnight - fortunately we have a supply of nappies and a some pyjamas for her!

She had a good night and woke at 8 a.m. - 14 hours in bed (wish I could sleep that long sometimes).

I took the dogs out in the morning for a shortish walk - about 30 minutes - and we got a bit wet in a sudden downpour.

Daughter came back straight after her night shift - and later we went out for lunch. Dogs were left behind, but didn't destroy anything today.

Our visitors went home around 5 p.m. and I went out again with the dogs and came across this fungi - Dryad's Saddle - nestling in the base of fallen tree trunk. This fungi appears regularly in the woods, although this year it hasn't sprouted in the place I usually see it! It was pretty dark in the woods (thick leaf cover and dark skies) so I had to  use the flash to get enough light!
