Tiny Tuesday - 6 o'clock swill

In Australia in the not too distant past, (in other words in my own lifetime) we had something called the 6 o'clock swill.  All the pubs closed at 6 o'clock and it was fashionable for men to leave work, belt round to the pub for a drink before being kicked out to go home to the missus.

South Australia was the last State to relax the opening hours of pubs, and we changed to 10pm closing in 1967.  I've just found this priceless bit of footage from the ABC, if you are interested.

Anyway, these ants lining up for a guzzle reminded me so much of those days.  The flower is the flower spike from the Agave attenuata, and it must really be dripping with nectar, because the birds are fighting over it as well.
