Macro Squirrel - "Half Malice, Half Glee"

It has been raining on and off all day. I've enjoyed shooting macro in my mini meadow and have some lovely butterfly and bug droplet shots.

When the drizzle turned to rain this afternoon I sheltered under the oak tree that MrQ reprieved, even though it was shading the glasshouses. I sensed movement, looked up and this little blighter was peering down at me. I captured it with my macro lens on the settings I had been using for insects. I think John Clare has got the squirrel demeanour down to a tee. (He of course was referring to red squirrels.)

"The squirrel sputters up the powdered oak,
With tail cocked o’er his head, and ears erect,
Startled to hear the woodman’s understroke;
And with the courage which his fears collect,
He hisses fierce half malice, and half glee —
Leaping from branch to branch about the tree,"
