Man at work

It was good to have the sailors back last night. They were still feeling amazed at that whale and calf who went under the boat, Gavin said that apparently a whale with a calf can become over protective and have been known to attack boats. Thankfully they are home safe and sound.

Had a rather unpleasant start to the day by having a mammogram early this morning - just a routine check offered by the NHS to all woman over a certain age. Men have is so much easier, they don't need to get their bits checked and squashed and prodded!

Here we have Adam at work - we got an advert in our post offering a cleaning services for driveways, patios etc. Adam decided he could do it at a cheaper rate than was being advertised - so he is doing the driveway, our patio and the patio furniture. It will be a real DIY weekend as we are getting new sofas in our family room - the older ones had collapsed after 10 years of (now heavy) boys sitting on them - so Gavin is going to redecorate the room before the sofas arrive next week. I get to choose the paint colour!

My day will end more pleasantly as tonight Gavin and I have tickets for The Deep Blue Sea starring Helen McCrory (Damien Lewis' wife) at the National Theatre - it has had stunning reviews so it should be good.

Good news from the municipal elections in South Africa, it looks like the opposition party have taken back control of some key cities which is a significant change there. Many cities under the control of the ANC, the party in power, are badly run with major financial problems. Despite being only municipal elections the country had a public holiday on voting day to ensure everyone could get to the polls.
