Wharepapa in its snowy splendour

An early blip as we are away to Nelson for a 50th wedding anniversary dinner and staying the night. This is Wharepapa/Mt Arthur which is looking splendid in its korowai or cloak of snow.
Blipmate and I went to the estuary looking for the passing parade of athletes/birds  as they entered the stadium/estuary for the opening of the AOG. Hardly  a dicky bird in sight except for two seagulls in the extra who were a little ruffled by the wind.
We rushed home to watch the wonderful show put on by the Brazilians in Rio. At 11am our time we were winners in that we didn't have to stay up half the night to see the spectacle.
The theme of global warming and planting trees such a great idea.
I thought the two NZ sailors who carried the NZ flag in looked wonderful in their korowai. They will need the sort of wind we have today to speed them along to a gold medal.
