the First Green Bean

A month late but a welcome sight: the first and only Kentucky Wonder green bean to show up on the poles. By the end of August there should be plenty to pick. I grow these and the Scarlett Runners . The Scarletts are for the hummingbird and the neighbor's dogs who love raw green beans.
The red runner flowers attract the little birds like crazy. I have not seen any beans on those vines yet.
From now until frost we should get a good crop.
There's nothing else in the vegetable beds except a potato to dig up. It is leftover from last year. I missed it and it made a plant this year.
A rather small and boring garden report this Saturday.  Raining off and on today... good for the gardens but worker with the day off not so pleased.
The hummer goes for the red geranium (Extra) too, but I think there is no nectar in those flowers. The red attracts them.
