BBC Proms

People were promenading along South Carriage Walk in Hyde Park (or does this bit count as Kensington Gardens?) this evening in front of the Royal Albert Hall.

We were there to promenade at the evening concert - our first visit this year to the BBC season of Promenade concerts.  As usual, we have  bought a weekend Promming pass, which get us into all the Royal Albert Hall concerts this weekend, standing in the Arena. It is a tiring, but enjoyable (and good value) way of enjoying some excellent music making. Each year we wonder whether this will be our last of promming, but we are still carrying on - and we are certainly not the oldest in the arena!

Tonight's concert featured Tchaikovsky's violin concerto and Stravinsky's Petrushka, and I realised it was quite a long time since I have heard either performed.  Very enjoyable.

We then stayed on for the late night concert - a completely different style with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland. It made for a late night home, not getting back until 1am (hence this back blip).
