I can't imagine a better way to be introduced to the overwhelming scale of the Edinburgh Festival than by the lovely WhiskyFoxtrot. Writing two days later, I now know that we weren't just having a friendly, chatty, early evening walk, she was actually also showing us all* the key places, giving us our bearings, introducing us to being in sun one moment, light rain the next and under a torrential downpour 1.5 seconds later, making sure we were fed en route, and getting us to our first event on time. Mark Steel's humorous take on Edinburgh, Scotland and elsewhere was a fun bit of cultural geography to add to our growing orientation.

*Edit, three days later: Some, not all. She had the wisdom to know that if we'd realised quite how much there is we wouldn't have dared come out again.
