Thoughts of a Mummy

When in Rome....

Ok, so we're not actually in Rome....

We're in London, Baby!!!

A huge thanks to fellow blipper Paulevans13 for the recommendation of visiting the Buckingham Palace State Rooms. We took the girls and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was fantastic to see inside the Palace; my particular favourite was being able to see the amazing outfits that the Queen has worn - oh, to be able to wear the ball gowns and have a reason to wear them.

We've had a fabulous day taking in some amazing sights, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Parliament Square, The Household Cavalry and Leicester Square. But the most significant place for us to visit was Bethnal Green underground station.

Bethnal Green tube station was where Nanny choochie-face worked in the war. She has told us many stories of how she looked after the families in the station when the bombs were dropped. Lying blankets on the rail tracks and keeping children safe. We spoke with a member of staff and they have recommended that we look on the London Transport website for photographs.

The hot weather has taken it's toll on the kiddies, particularly R&Aj. At one point R was walking like an exhausted ape with the sound of a zombie. We just had to laugh at her, it was either that or shout and I really want this weekend to be a happy one. In typical R style, she had a meltdown in the Palace gardens - all because we were going to go to the Palace cafe for a drink and Icecream, but they didn't have any tap water for the girls, so we decided that rather than us adults sit and drink in front of the girls, we'd move on and find somewhere else to have a drink together. There's no pleasing her sometimes!

It seems everywhere we go, we attract attention, thankfully it's of the positive kind - lots of people smiling and giggling with us. One guy ran past us with his friends and as shouted back at us "that's a good looking family you have there". I thought that was so kind!

We've just arrived at our hotel - which is absolutely amazing! It's the perfect place for us as a large family on a budget.

We have a full day planned for tomorrow - fingers crossed for a full on day of family smiles :D
