Patterns in nature

Watching the waves surge in at Newport Sands I was struck by the resemblance between the pattern of froth on the water and the distribution of fat on the omentum (the membrane that drapes like a curtain over the stomach and bowel in mammals). I had earlier been reading this article about the Moldovan artist Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva who uses animal guts to create unusual art works. A very short video clip 'Fragility' included in the article shows her working with omentum.
“I find beauty in some most bizarre places,” she says, and the medical team she has been involved with find her perspective helps them to think about gut problems in a new way.
