Ruins of Windleshaw Abbey

Monday 8th August 2016 (1444)

I had two services at the crem today with a gap between which was too long to do nothing and too short to go anywhere. The sun was out so I went for a walk through the cemetery, as you do. I've only been in the cemetery once. As I walked towards the older section I noticed a ruined tower so decided to investigate. It was clear it belonged to an old chapel or church.

When I got home I looked it up on the net and discovered that it was the ruins of Windleshaw Abbey, the Chapel of St Thomas of Canterbury, built c 1453.

A lovely meal out with a friend this evening.
