Nothing happens here...

Eye eye….

Long before American Pickers was a TV programme (which probably no-one on Blip has ever heard of) a friend and I were going to the US and bringing back old British cars.  He had the money, I was the hired hand!  It was the early 1990's and 'the hills were full of 'em' as our pal Ed from Charlotte used to say.  He arranged the shipping for us.

After TMLHereAndThere showed that pic of an old Bedford lorry in New Zealand I remembered I'd photographed a Chevrolet of the same style in Darlington South Carolina one time, so I set about trying to find it.  Unfortunately it's on old colour negative film and amongst hundreds of as yet unscanned images.

Now where are we?  Oh yes, we used to go to a scrapyard/breaker in Hickory, N. Carolina who specialised in Jaguars.  My friend had imported a number of E Types from him and we were there having another rake around his 20 acre site.

I didn't find the Chevrolet pic but I came across this photo I took that day of an old Daimler (Jaguar Family) and thought it looked quirky.  Haven't seen it for many years.  It's one I think I'll print off for the office wall.

Well that's my day.  Phew I'm worn out.
