Echinacea Bloom

" A flower doesn't think about growing, blooming and setting seed...it just does what comes naturally."
~ Beth Sawickie

One of my favorite backyard plants, echinacea, or purple coneflower is native to eastern and central North America, where they can be found growing in prairies and open wooded areas.
A member of the daisy family, it is probably most well-known as an herbal remedy for cold prevention. Modern-day Western medicine pooh-poohs the healing qualities of echinacea but Native American tribes like the Kiowa, Cheyenne, Pawnee and Lakhota used it for cold symptoms, headaches and pain relief.
