Monpazier

Nowhere but France would you find a colourful shop window like this with the mellow sunlight and honey coloured stone.

We have driven to the southern Dordogne.  We have stopped at the lovely Bastide village of Monpazier and have camped our motorhome in an "Aire" a few hundred metres from the town centre.

To explain for non-motorhomers,  Aires de Camping Cars are basically car parks where most small villages and towns allow Motorhomes to stay overnight,  They contain basic facilities such as water and waste disposal.  They are not luxurious but are usually free and conveniently located.  This one is at the back of the town fire station.

We are heading off tomorrow to stay for a couple of days with some friends who have a house in the North Dordogne about 1.5 hours from here.

Monpazier is lovely.  We have driven through it previously but couldn't previously find anywhere to park.  Better luck this time however.  We are finding central France actually quieter than when we usually visit in June.  I think everyone is at the coast.
