Beamish Transport

Spent today at Beamish Open Air Museum and have the sore feet to prove it:-). It's huge with so many different areas to explore. Some of the transport in the photos provided options for getting around, but with lengthy queues at every stop, it was often quicker to walk!

What possessed us to visit during the school holidays? The place was heaving with kids and some families seemed to have 5 or 6 each in tow - surely not all their own!

Somebody, somewhere had told me that the fish & chips here were the best ever, so we queued for over an hour to be served. The verdict? Good, but not that good and no competition for fresh white haddock from Arbroath or Fife:-).

Having been dry all day, it just started to spit with rain as we were leaving and poured all the way back to the cottage - when it stopped again! How's that for timing?
