Waiting for the concert

Our final visit this evening to this year's BBC Proms season.

The first concert included Bartok, Dvorak's 7th Symphony, and a new violin concerto by Malcolm Hayes (which was quite enjoyable - you never know with new works).

After the concert finished we went outside for some fresh air (it was quite warm in the hall).  There were lots of people around enjoying the moonlit evening.  I think many people here were, like us, going to both of this evening's concerts, and in the background of the picture you can see the queue for tickets to the Arena for the late night concert - a superb evening of music from jazz singer/pianist Jamie Cullum.  He is so entertaining and energetic and it was a very enjoyable concert. (It will be broadcast on BBC Four on Tuesday 23 August at 10.00pm.)

A late night home, though, not leaving the Royal Albert Hall until about 11.40pm and a journey of nearly an hour and half.
