Expanding School

Another early start in the madwill household. Mrs madwill left just before 6 a.m. to visit the Festival of Quilts at the NEC - she has volunteered to steward this year and got an early admission for a sneak preview. I left just after 7 to head for babysitting duties again in Doncaster!

Daughter came home having had a very quiet night shift - she had even managed a few hours sleep, so she did not disappear to bed when she got in! No real need for me there, so I assembled and installed a couple of stair gates. Things have progessed in the baby gate world since our kids were small - no longer just a couple of turning nuts to hold them in place - these things had to be properly hung on the wall (so drill and plugs needed) and lots of little faffy plastic bits to install and adjust!

Home by mid afternoon and I did a bit of DIY here - shaving a few mm of the bottom of the lounge door so that it opens over the new carpet! I then plonked in front of the TV to watch some of the Olympics and promptly fell asleep! Am now a day behind on comments - hope to catch up over the weekend as Mrs madwill is away for a few days.

Still no blip - so it was evening by the time we went out and I grabbed this shot of the 'building site' at our village school. Just a few years ago this school nearly closed as numbers were falling and it got some bad inspections. However, a new head has turned it around and all the other schools in nearby villages are full and more space is needed here - so they are adding a couple of 'temporary' classrooms to accommodate them. Presumably this will mean 60 new children so there will 60 more cars to park (badly) up and down the roads nearby. We often find our drive blocked by cars on the school run!
