Great Asby Common

We'd intended to walk through Little Borrowdale this morning, a place we go often that now finds itself in the Lake District National Park - perhaps we'll start to see other souls there, usually it's only us. But as we drove through Tebay we could see the valley was dark with cloud and rain, we arrived at our parking spot, and turned back whence we came. It's only three miles away, but it often seems to have weather all of its own.

Instead we drove up to the Common. Whilst the weather did no more than threaten the wind was actually quite warm and pleasant, rain jackets not needed. The moorland is washed with purple now as the heather blooms - beautiful though it is it's hard to capture well, this was my best effort.

A visit to the home was followed by late afternoon cinema, Suicide Squad, not everyone's cup of tea but we thoroughly enjoyed parts of it, even if DC seem determined to ruin Batman's legacy by continuing with the awful Ben Affleck, Jared Leto's Joker and Margot Robbie's Harley Quincy were inspired.
