Beautiful Saltzburg

A Sound of Music indulgence today.

Day trip to the lovely town of Saltzburg which, among many other delights, features some of the locations for the Sound of Music filmed there back in 1964. The top picture is the fountain and steps where Maria and the children sang Doh-Re-Me. We visited the Cathedral which can seat 10.000 people and saw the convent where the real Maria lived.

From there we drove through the Austrian Lake District and stopped in a little town where the SOM wedding was filmed (bottom picture). I chose the music from this scene for my own bridal entrance, though we had to tailor it to make sure it didn't proceed on to the "'How do you solve a problem like Maria?" section.

A hot and tiring day but absolutely worthwhile.
