Somebody Wasn't Paying Attention

Well, it was disappointment for Team Canada Goose in the women’s synchronized diving event this morning when they weren’t able to………well………synchronize.   They showed great promise in practice, but the judges ruled that it was just too obvious that somebody was marching to the beat of her own drummer.  Disqualification followed with a lot of loud honking protests.

The team’s manager lodged a formal complaint alleging that somebody in the Team Mallard entourage quacked at an inopportune moment causing Team Canada Goose to mistake that for its signal to dive.   Members of Team Mallard were deeply offended at the suggestion they would do such an unsportsmanlike thing.  It was suggested by officials that if the athletes at the fowl venue would just shut up for a while there would be much less confusion and commotion and these sorts of things might not happen.  Thankfully, the Mallard Captain was able to calm his team down in time for their formation swimming event later in the afternoon but one could see that the accusation had done some damage and nerves were a bit raw.

The day ended well, though, when Team Canada Goose, putting the embarrassing debacle behind them, so to speak, went on to win silver in the Harmony Honking event.
