Mont Saint Michel

This day we drove to Mt. St. Michel. This historic peninsula is currently being "renovated" so that the natural island will be an island again. Currently because of the tourist road towards the island the river is changing and the historic element of the island is lost. At high tide, the island used to be isolated from the mainland.

We walked through the village, visited the historic abbey (which was a bit of a disappointment since the furniture was mostly gone) and had a good time in the sun. It was very windy out there by the water, but in half a day it was easy to see most of the island.

The evening we spent barbecuing, playing on the Nintendo DS Lite and watching 'The Longest Day' movie.
